At 44 inches, this Our Lady of Lourdes is sized for the grotto a parish builds: the white-robed Virgin with the blue sash, eyes raised, the rosary over her arm and roses on her feet, as she stood in the rock above the Gave in 1858. Bernadette was told only to pray for sinners and to dig for the spring. Pilgrims still bathe there.
Forty-four inches is a garden, grotto or side-chapel height for a parish rock grotto, a nursing-home courtyard, a school Marian garden or a cemetery section, and a frequent memorial gift.
